In love and friendship.

Times get tough.
Things happen that suck: plain and simple.
Loss is hard. Death is hard. Life gets hard.
There are friends. And there is family.
...and I begin to realize these two groups are one in the same, really.
Even in a trying time, I cannot help but feel so thankful.
"When you are joyous, look deep into your heart and you shall find it is only that which has given you sorrow that is giving you joy. When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight."
-Khalil Gibran

I delight in love and friendship and sweet memories of love and friendship.
I delight in a night of Thai food ordered with friends. I delight in an unexpected gift. I delight in sweet e-mails and text messages of love and friendship (note: I had never saved voicemails until recently and am so glad I have begun doing so when it feels right). I delight in having four different kinds of beer in my fridge because we couldn't decide on just one or two.  I delight, delight, delight.

I delight in the gift of friendship and feel deep gratitude in a time of sorrow.
